The boys played at school functions and their local music store for open mic night. Soon after drummer Ryan Glick joined the band. In the winter of 2010 with the support of a few local restaurants in the East Bay, the band played shows and covered songs from bands such as My Chemical Romance, Led Zeppelin, 30 Seconds to Mars, and Green Day along with a few original songs. In March of 2011 they recorded their first rough demo with the songs “Vena Cava” and “Slightly Psychotic”. Soon bassist Logan Shackelton joined on. Hailing from northern California’s Bay Area, Heroes at Gunpoint draw their influences from the eclectic Oakland-San Francisco-Berkeley musical trifecta of legendary punk, metal and rock artists. With decades-worth of collective music experience, Heroes at Gunpoint bring a mature, yet fresh perspective to their mixture of rock, punk and metal by drawing on influences like Rancid, early AFI and Rise Against. The four-piece stay true to the Bay Area’s creative, energetic, take-no-prisoners style of punk while adding metal and rock overtones for a refreshingly creative style all its own. The Truth Is... is a pop-punk/alternative band based out of the East Bay section of the San Francisco Bay Area. Mainly in the pop-punk genre, their riffs include major scale chord progressions, octave riffs, and pop-type choruses. The band consists of four members, Ryan Quilala ( Lead Vocals/Guitar), Res Geluz (Lead Vocals/Guitar), Elijah Wasson (Bass/Vocals) and Sam Rusu (Drums). Formed in late 2008, founding members, Ryan and Res, played under the name The Meltdown of Roses + Radios with their former members of the band until the departure of their former bassist around 2009. With song ideas still floating around, the trio went under the name Minus Thirteen and played a few shows before the departure of their drummer due to college. The band decided to go on hiatus for two years looking for replacement drummers and bassists to fill the empty spots. After numerous drummer replacements, The Truth Is... finds their current drummer Sam Rusu and shortly after, bassist Elijah Wasson, now completing the current lineup.

Vision Theory

Pop Punk
(Danville,CA)
close

Vision Theory was formed in 2010 by Tim Dimayuga, Jon Young, Nick Dodge, and Cameron Coutermarsh in Danville CA. Starting as just a cover “jam band” with four guitarists and no bassist, drummer, or vocalist they soon realized that some things needed to change. Stephen Balogh was brought in as the drummer, Jon Young switched to bass, and after going through several trial singers Tim Dimayuga stepped up as the lead vocalist with Cassi Tessandori as backup. Cameron Coutermarch decided to step down his commitment and decided that he would rather be a backup guitar player when needed. The band quickly became a moderate success around the Danville area, covering mostly Blink 182, Green Day, and Weezer music. Vision Theory played some of the same stages as superstar bands such as Journey and Train and played in front of crowds as large as 2,000. After some drama between the two singers, Cassi decided to quit the band and Nick decided he should follow. Nick was replaced by Richard Torres whose previous band, Only Human, had disbanded. Vision Theory is now writing their own music and has begun recording and hopes to get their first EP out within the next year. (indefinite hiatus)

Where The Sidewalk Ends

Punk (Walnut Creek, CA)
close
In a dimly lit hospital in Hobo-ken, New Jersey, the members of former Japanese Techno Pop band, Funk Posse 5ive found themselves a fates door. Once deciding to reunite as a punk band called Where The Sidewalk ends the four members Justin, Ray, Greg, and Sean hit the legendary roads of Japan once more. Riots broke out, and angry fans burnt Tokyo's skyline to the ground. Where the Sidewalk Ends was exiled from Japan an relocated to Walnut Creek and began to prowl the local punk scene. After being released from jail for repeated public indecency, Justin and Sean finally realized that drugs should only be taken in moderation, and focused their efforts towards more respectable en-devours such as bird watching and hostile corporate take-overs, while Ray and Greg battled their inner demons on a deserted island just south of North Dakota. They eventually returned home out because they finally ran out Natty Ice. Drawing on their inspiration from their wild adventures, they began recording their first E.P which they are still hard at work on.

Sarchasm

Alternative/Ska Pop Punk (Berkeley, CA)
close
Hailing from the rich music scene that is the San Francisco Bay Area, the four teenagers in Sarchasm, at first glance, look more like they belong in a library or a GameStop than in an alternative rock band. And yet, when they take the stage, their nerdy exteriors all but melt away do to the sheer power of their music. Bassist Alex Botkin's fingers fly across the fretboard like few of his contemporaries' do, bringing forth a melodic, complex style that is reminiscent of Matt Freeman and Flea. Drummer Sofi Seligman jumps back and forth between a strong backbeat, soaring backup vocals, and tight, well-executed fills in a manner that suggests she has been performing all her life - and, at around 14 years old, this is entirely possible. Lead guitarist Izzi Capili's metal, indie, and world music influences (a combination that very few can pull off, and yet, she does) bleed through her performance, giving her solos a tasteful Latin flair and her vocals a unique style. And punk roots are plain in lead singer/rhythm guitarist Mari Campos, whose passionate, personal lyrics and domineering stage presence make the band not only fun to listen to, but exciting to watch, as well.Though the band members' ages averages to around 16 years old, Sarchasm is anything but a simple "kid band." Having held their own against their adult contemporaries such as Union 13 and Mystic Knights of the Cobra, it is clear that Sarchasm will stick around for a few years, infecting the world with their ska-tinged alternative rock.So sit tight and enjoy the ride!

We are a DIY band that lives to be on the road, and living together has helped make that possible. Check out our newest EP NORMAL, it'll explain a lot about us.Come out to a show sometime. Mad Judy

Punk Rock/Alternative (Sacramento,CA)
close
Stumbling out of a smoke-filled SUV, speakers blasting theme songs by the Replacements, Jawbreaker, Mudhoney, Dinosaur Jr, or maybe even Modest Mouse, Mad Judy isn't the type of band you'd take your kid sister out to see (unless you really don't like your kid sister). With no commercial ambitions, Mad Judy bust out a bitch’s brew of hardcore punk, indie, pop, and even metal to create a washtub moonshine of sound that Steve-O himself would think twice about butt chugging. A sound that's been described as "friendly bastard rock... with noise"…Overcoming what would appear to be all odds, Mad Judy continue to expand their fan base beyond just the indie rockers and attention starved teenage girls they sing about, becoming what some might call "talented and entertaining". But if you wanna know the real truth about the band, you're just gonna have to catch 'em live and see for yourself.

Swingin' Utters

Rock/Punk/Folk/Country (San Francisco, CA)
close
The Swingin’ Utters have been kicking around the San Francisco Bay Area for 25 years now. They’ve met their wives and their best friends on these streets; they’ve grown and aged right here in the Bay Area. This has ignited the very essence of what goes into their value system and more importantly their music, because it is a reflection of those experiences. For example, the band took a break to raise their families, right at the height of their popularity! Did it faze them? Not really. That’s the thing with these guys. It is family first, with music always germinating within those life choices. During the Utters’ semi-hiatus, they all continued playing music in bands like Druglords of the Avenues, the Re-volts and Filthy Thieving Bastards. Their life experiences influence what goes into their records. A case in point is their debut: 1995’s The Streets of San Francisco; their first full length and an essential “streetpunk” masterpiece. Fat Mike took notice of their grit and honesty, and signed them to Fat Wreck Chords. From there they put out a ton of great records, including A Juvenile Product of the Working Class, Five Lessons Learned, Brazen Head, Swingin’ Utters and Dead Flowers, Bottles, Bluegrass, and Bones. For 10 years the Utters toured relentlessly with the likes of Rancid, NOFX, Dropkick Murphys and everyone in between. Which brings us back to celebrating their 25th anniversary, the band fully recharged with their second album in three years and no signs of slowing down anytime soon.

Point Of View

Punk/Ska/Reggae
(San Jose,CA)
close
Taking after the sounds of classic punk power trios, Point of View is an up-and-coming punk rock band out of San Jose, CA. With a punk base similar to old Green Day and NOFX, the group leans toward the Bay Area pop-punk sound and brings a hook-laden attitude to the genre. After meeting in middle school, bassist Michael Bragg, drummer/vocalist John Wallace and guitarist/vocalist Curtis Wallace began to write punk tunes and even recorded a full-length album in the 7th grade. Another release followed shortly after, but it wasn’t until after those outputs that the band began taking themselves seriously. The group independently released a full-length titled Sideshow Years in September 2011 that was later re-released by the band's current label, Hella Mad Records. The album was in the works for five years, with the band creating a DIY, makeshift home studio in a friend’s garage and tracking the entire record on its own. Scott Goodrich mixed and mastered the album.Considering the DIY nature of the recording of Sideshow Years, the record is surprisingly clean-sounding. While the rugged nature of the band’s sound is prevalent, opener “The On-Going Two Faced Dilemma” provides a crystal-clear bass line to carry the track, bringing back memories of Rise Against and Green Day’s early releases before Point of View kicks in some ska/reggae portions. Meanwhile, tracks like “The F.D.A. Steals Your Personality” show the band’s earnest youth, bringing comparisons of peers Emily’s Army. While horns and reggae influences are present throughout the whole album, the focus is certainly on the punk rock here, with those influences brought in only at times. Point Of View is now set to release a five-song EP titled Burner on March 29, 2012. Burner sees Point of View continuing its march in catchy old-school pop-punk, with tracks like "Home" providing sing-along parts for fans. The album will be made available via Hella Mad Records.

Up & Go

Alternative/Pop-Punk
(San Jose, CA)
close

UP&GO originally started as Pop-Punk cover band called The Last Ten Years. As time passed and members parted ways, Chris and Esteban were left with a lot of free time and began to spend more of it writing original material. As time passed frustration began to mount. Songs were being written but left unfinished because of the lack of percussion and bass. Finally, after about three months of hibernation and several tryouts later. UP&GO found drummer Robbie Fureby.Robbie saw the need for Bass and insisted he brought his friend Dean. Robbie and Dean filled the void in the band and momentum started to push forward. At this point. . . Robbie and Dean were both learning the songs that have been created and it wasn't until a little over a month that Dean decided to pack his bags and head to Tennessee. Reasons I do not know. . Couch surfing?Anyways. . This left the band in a very difficult position. Shows were being booked but there was no bass.In the summer of 12' Eric Recher stepped in as a friend to provide some much needed assitance in the bass department. Eric was there while we recorded our demo in July and assisted in recording bass tracks and background vocals on the upcoming 'Taking Off EP'. Although Eric wasn't a full time member he still brought a sense of fullness to the band. Due to conflicting schedules and bigger priorities UP&GO were forced to find a full time member. This leaves us here . . . UP&GO is in the midst of finishing our debut CD. New full time bass player acquired thanks to David Alatoree . Music video for our first single to be recorded middle January. Expected EP release first quarter 2013. Thanks for Reading Cheers!
